Kindness and Confetti

     

     Teaching and encouraging children to treat others with kindness is a struggle faced every day in the classroom. I see students with poor empathy skills who really don’t care how and if they hurt someone else. As a teacher, sometimes a few simple discussions and activities can help bring attention to how students can strive to bring kindness into their every day life. Here is a bright and colorful door decoration I made to encourage students to do kind deeds. They enjoyed writing the little sticky notes for someone who had done something kind for them – or sometimes they wrote it about themselves! Anyway, it filled up nicely, and added a colorful reminder of all that we can do if we put forth just a little effort. Here it is when we finished:
