Blackened Tilapia
This recipe is so easy, yet is packed full of flavor! We make this at least once a month, and it is one of my favorite recipes. It could also be easily adapted to many different types of fish or even chicken!
Blackened Tilapia
Ingredients
- 4 six ounce tilapia fillets
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil for cooking
For the rub
- 2 tsp paprika or smoked paprika, if you prefer
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp cayenne powder
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Combine the dry ingredients in a small bowl. Spread the spice rub evenly over both sides of the tilapia.
- Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large non-stick pan. Add the fillets and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and flaky. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
