Ingredients

  • 4 cups blackberries fresh or frozen
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • cups flour
  • cups rolled oats I use quick oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • cups butter softened

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F. Butter a 9 x 9 pan. In mixing bowl, add sugar to berries and stir gently. In another bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  • Add butter. Using a pastry cutter, cut in the butter until it is rather loose and crumbly.
  • Add sugared blackberries to buttered pan, spreading evenly. Top the berries with the dry crumble mix.
  • Bake in preheated oven at 350° for approximately 40 minutes or until bubbly and topping is golden brown.
  • Serve with ice cream while still warm!
  • I found I had extra crumble leftover, so I spread it out on a piece of parchment on a baking sheet.
  • I baked in the same oven for about 10-15 minutes, until golden brown. Delicious sprinkled on smoothies, yogurt, or eaten like granola!
